How to Have a Smooth Face
Whether you suffer from dry skin or you have lots of acne or acne scars, you may want to get a smoother face. It's easier than it sounds! The advice is great for both guys and ladies! Begin with Step 1 below.
Part 1 of 4: Cleaning
- 1Wash your face every day. In order to have a perfectly smooth face, the number one key is consistent and constant maintenance. Relaxing even for a day can set you way back, just as soon as you make progress. Work on skin maintenance every day if you really want results.Ad
- 2Apply the right soap, the right way. Use soap that is intended to be used on the face. Regular soap will draw away too much oil. Apply the soap to wet skin and rub, gently, with your fingers in a circular motion.
- 3Rinse thoroughly. Rinse all of the soap from your face by splashing water. Avoid using towels as these can reintroduce germs and dirt, causing blemishes.
- 4Dry correctly. Air dry or lightly pat your face dry with a clean towel. You should have other objects make as little contact as possible with your skin.
Part 2 of 4: Exfoliating
- 1Make a face scrub. Make a face scrub by mixing 3 parts of baking soda to 1 part water.[1] Baking soda will draw out impurities in your skin and also scrub away dead skin cells.
- Alternatively, use a sugar scrub.
- Never use a salt scrub. This dries out your skin and draws away essential oils and minerals.
- 2Soak your skin. Wash your face with warm water before using the exfoliant. This will work best if you use the exfoliant while you are in the shower.
- 3Apply your exfoliant to your face. Smooth the exfoliant onto your skin. Make sure to get problem areas like your cheeks and forehead.
- 4Massage it into your skin. Continue to rub the exfoliant all over your skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion.
- 5Rinse and dry your face. Rinse off the exfoliant and pat-dry your face. Make sure to moisturize afterwards.
Part 3 of 4: Moisturizing
- 1Moisturize after washing. You should moisturize your face often, and generally always after washing your face. Washing your face can dry out your skin, which creates a great environment for infection (pimples).
- If you have oily skin, use an oil-free moisturizer.
- 2Use basic moisturizer. A basic facial moisturizer will work for most people as is best for frequent moisturizing.
- 3Use stronger moisturizer. A stronger skin softening product can be used occasionally. Bag Balm or any product containing lanolin is a good option, as this will help make your skin stronger for longer. Use only a very small amount (less than a pea-sized blob for your whole face) and spread it on your face while it is still moist from washing in order to help it spread more evenly.
- 4Use moisturizer in moderation. Never put on giant globs of moisturizer. This is only going to make things worse, not better.
Part 4 of 4: Treating
- 1Clear your skin using turmeric. Turmeric, a spice which you can buy in bulk cheaply from most grocery stores, is used around the world as an effective folk medicine. Mix 1 part plain yogurt to 1 part turmeric and mix them into a paste. Spread this on your face (after you've washed it) and wash the paste off, thoroughly, after 20 minutes.
- Avoid getting it in your eyes.
- Don't apply this mask too often or if you have very fair skin. Turmeric stains skin temporarily, so it's not a good idea to leave it on for too long or apply it too often.
- Only rinse with water and do not use soap. The natural bacteria in the yogurt will help keep your face clear.
- Turmeric will also stain sheets and towels.
- 2Clear your skin using apple cider vinegar. Get a bottle of apple cider vinegar and pour a little onto some toilet paper or other disposable face cloth. Rub this on your face and allow it to sit for 2 minutes before washing it off.
- Only rinse with water and do not use soap. The natural bacteria in the vinegar will help keep your face clear.
- It does have a smell, but this fades as soon as it dries.
- 3Clear your skin using honey. Mix 1 part honey to 1 part plain yogurt until it is completely blended. Spread the mixture on your face (after you've washed it) and wash the mixture off, thoroughly, after 20 minutes.
- 4Remove sources of contamination. Germs, dirt, oils, and other impurities you introduce to your face is what causes all those blemishes, pimples, and blackheads for even the most fastidious face-cleaners. To avoid this you should try to change your pillow frequently, stop touching your face, and even consider occasionally cleaning and disinfecting things like eyeglasses.
